Implementing the Care Act 2014: Why Volunteering and Social Action Matter.’ Event - 24th November 2016

Posted on 14 November 2016 (Permalink)

These workshops are being co-sponsored by Volunteering Matters, the LGA, ADASS and NAVCA. They aim to help local authorities and their partners in the NHS and VCSE realise the potential of volunteering and social action to deliver the requirements of the Care Act 2014 and the allied imperative for engaging with communities and citizens as identified in the NHS England’s Five Year Forward View, as set out in the attached:-

The event will be practical and action oriented and the programmes will include:

  • the commissioning and management challenges presented by volunteering and social action – and the opportunities offered in today’s policy environment;
  • what this means in practice, practical examples of volunteering and social action in the real world – what works and why; and
  • problem solving and planning- an opportunity to bring volunteering and social action to life in delegates’ own localities

We hope that delegates will leave with an action plan, which they can then draw on, back in the workplace.

We aim to attract delegates with a passion for this agenda and colleagues who identify themselves as one of the following:

  • leaders and senior managers in local authority adult social care and community directorates;
  • commissioners or operational  managers  in social care and the NHS with special responsibility for community development and volunteering;
  • CEOs and volunteer managers from VCSE organisations with a strong interest in volunteering and social action – and especially those from volunteer centres and CVSs;
  • adult social care provider organisations who work with volunteers;
  • volunteers who support adults with social care needs in any setting or across settings; and
  • volunteers who themselves have use health and social care services
